2008 Besserat de Bellefon Champagne Brut Cuvée des Moines [2016 disgorgement]

Description

Drawn from the same 2008 harvest and grower network, the 2016 disgorgement of Besserat de Bellefon Champagne Brut Cuvée des Moines reflects a shorter period of lees aging before release. Fruit was sourced from chalk dominated slopes cultivated in close collaboration with partner growers, with harvest selection calibrated to support aging potential while retaining balance. Base wines were vinified in stainless steel, then blended across varieties to establish structural cohesion before bottling for secondary fermentation with a mid term lees trajectory in mind. Compared with later disgorgements, the 2016 release presents an earlier phase of lees integration, offering a distinct perspective on how the vintage responds to the house’s gentle pressing regime and low pressure stylistic choices. This bottling illustrates Besserat de Bellefon’s practice of releasing multiple disgorgement moments from a single vintage, grounded in long familiarity with its vineyard sources and a cellar philosophy attentive to incremental maturation.
