2008 Besserat de Bellefon Champagne Brut Cuvée des Moines [2020 disgorgement]

Description

Extended lees contact defines the 2020 disgorgement of the 2008 Besserat de Bellefon Champagne Brut Cuvée des Moines, produced by a house with longstanding relationships across the Côte des Blancs, Montagne de Reims, and Vallée de la Marne. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier were drawn from chalk rich parcels whose fine textured soils favor slow development in cooler conditions. Vinification took place in stainless steel under temperature control to preserve structural precision before the wines entered prolonged lees aging. Grower partners farm sustainably, and grape selection at harvest is conducted with long élevage as a guiding criterion. Disgorged in 2020, this release demonstrates how additional time on lees shapes the evolution of base wines from the same vintage. Within the Besserat de Bellefon range, the cuvée reflects the house’s tradition of low pressure Champagne informed by patient maturation and consistent, long term grower collaboration.
