Internal variation within the Clos-Vougeot grand cru shaped the 2009 Domaine d’Eugénie Clos-Vougeot Grand Cru, produced in the estate’s early years under Pinault group stewardship when renewed emphasis was placed on vineyard mapping, soil analysis, and parcel specific farming. Differences in elevation and soil depth, from stony upper reaches to deeper, clay influenced lower sections, required closely tailored canopy and yield choices in a warm, generous season. Harvest moved through the domaine’s holdings in multiple passes to capture these ripening differences. Fermentation took place in small vats, allowing extraction to be calibrated lot by lot, and élevage continued in French oak guided by cooper selections tested in prior vintages. This bottling contributes to d’Eugénie’s developing record of how attentive viticulture and precise cellar work can articulate the inner diversity of Clos-Vougeot in a ripe year.
