A southwest facing slope within Monprivato in Castiglione Falletto defines the 2012 Giuseppe Mascarello Barolo Riserva Cà d’Morissio, presented as the peak expression of the family’s long study of this single cru dating to the early twentieth century. Ancient Helvetian marl underpins the parcel, encouraging slow ripening and supporting Nebbiolo built for structural depth. Vineyard work follows a traditional, low input path shaped by decades of familiarity, with meticulous pruning, selective green harvesting, and careful canopy management used to regulate vine balance. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in concrete, with extended maceration directed through continual tasting. Lengthy maturation in large seasoned botti follows, allowing gradual evolution while preserving fidelity to the slope. Released only in selected vintages, Cà d’Morissio functions within the Mascarello range as a long term record of a historic site interpreted through disciplined viticulture and classical, time intensive élevage.
