Cooler temperatures and higher humidity place different demands on Ravera’s elevated, open hillside, where calcareous marl and a limestone clay matrix support slow development and keep drainage active as conditions turn more challenging. The 2014 Vietti Barolo Ravera draws on these Novello parcels with their consistent airflow and significant altitude, factors that temper vigor and help preserve a steady ripening curve when the season is less accommodating. Canopy work is adjusted with particular care, and picking is organized in multiple passes to capture parcels as they reach readiness rather than forcing a single sweep. Stainless steel fermentation follows, with maceration managed conservatively to match the year’s structure and avoid forcing extraction. Maturation occurs primarily in large oak casks, supporting gradual integration without adding additional weight from smaller cooperage. As part of Vietti’s long term examination of site specific Barolo, Ravera in this vintage shows how consistent farming and restrained cellar choices keep the cru’s geological and climatic framework legible across seasonal variation.
