Description
A confidential set of Grand Cru vineyards forms the basis of Pol Roger’s 2015 Champagne Brut Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, a wine tied to postwar history through the long association between the house and the Churchill family. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay come primarily from chalk slopes in the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, where thin topsoils over deep chalk regulate water supply and promote steady development under cooler seasonal conditions. Sustainable farming is coordinated with long standing grower partners, emphasizing balanced yields and precise harvest timing to preserve the intended structural line. Base wines ferment in stainless steel to maintain parcel detail, and malolactic conversion is generally avoided to retain firmness and continuity through the élevage cycle. Secondary fermentation is followed by an extended period on lees that exceeds the house minimum, allowing slow evolution under stable cellar conditions. This cuvée occupies a distinct role in the portfolio as a deliberate, long aged expression defined by the most selective sourcing and an approach aligned with historical preferences.
