Description
Compact sandstone and marl in Monforte d’Alba’s Bussia zone shape the 2016 Enzo Bartoli Barolo Bussia, Piedmont, Italy, sourced from a widely recognized hillside area associated with firmly structured Nebbiolo. The Bartoli project works with growers who maintain older vines on south and southeast exposures, where altitude and slope influence canopy balance and harvest timing. Viticulture relies on selective green work and close monitoring of water stress during warmer stretches of the season. Fermentation is typically carried out in steel with extended maceration, followed by maturation in large neutral casks intended to guide slow tannin integration without overt external imprint. Within the broader label concept, the Bussia bottling is designed to present a site-driven interpretation of Monforte by applying consistent cellar decisions across parcels while respecting the vineyard’s long history as a source of structured Barolo.
