Description
Morainic hillside parcels in the core of Franciacorta supply the 2016 Ferghettina Franciacorta Brut Milledì, Lombardy, Italy, with Chardonnay grown on glacially formed soils that combine deposits, limestone fragments, and sandy clays under the Gatti family’s farming. These well-drained slopes sit at varied elevations and receive steady breezes from Lake Iseo, a moderating influence that supports the ripening pattern required for traditional-method sparkling production. Vineyard work follows sustainable practice with balanced pruning and selective hand harvesting, calibrated to maintain precision across differences in soil depth and aspect. Primary fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with parcel separation maintained, and tirage initiates secondary fermentation in bottle. Extended lees aging follows as a defining element of the Milledì program, supported by Ferghettina’s square-based bottle designed to increase lees contact. Within the estate range, this cuvée functions as a technical synthesis, linking detailed site selection to patient maturation rooted in Franciacorta’s glacial geology.
