Description
Mid-slope vineyards around Verduno and neighboring communes supply the 2016 G.B. Burlotto Barolo DOCG, Piedmont, Italy, produced by a historic estate rooted in traditional Barolo practice and long-held hillside sites. Nebbiolo is drawn from calcareous marl with varying proportions of clay and sand, differences that influence water retention and ripening pace across the contributing parcels. Mixed exposures and steady airflow supported a long growing season in 2016, and vineyard work follows hand-intensive, traditional methods with careful yield control and harvest timing set parcel by parcel. Fermentation takes place in large wooden vats, with maceration directed by structural balance rather than a fixed schedule. Maturation proceeds over an extended period in large Slavonian oak botti before bottling. This Barolo serves as the estate’s classical interpretation of the appellation, integrating multiple sites through consistent viticulture and a restrained cellar approach grounded in continuity.
