A long, balanced season sets the frame for the 2016 Vietti Barolo Castiglione, assembled from a broad set of Nebbiolo parcels that together represent a cross section of Barolo’s principal soil types and exposures. Contributing vineyards span limestone rich marl as well as more compact clay soils, formations that regulate water availability and help keep ripening steady as the growing cycle stretches out. Farming is hand executed under sustainable guidelines, with yield control and harvest timing managed commune by commune to respect differences in elevation and aspect. Each parcel is vinified separately in stainless steel, letting fermentation and maceration proceed according to site behavior and the year’s rhythm rather than a single template. Maturation follows in large oak botti with a smaller share of barriques, building structure while keeping regional character readable.
