Description
Originating in Vincelles on the right bank of the Marne Valley, the 2017 Piot-Sévillano Coteaux Champenois Meunier Rosé Indiscrète is built around Meunier grown on limestone rich clay over chalk soils typical of the sector. The estate farms sustainably, with extensive manual work across parcels that differ in exposure and topsoil depth. For this still rosé, grapes were harvested by hand and subjected to a brief maceration before spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel and neutral barrels, allowing individual lots to be evaluated on their own terms. Aging continued in older wood to refine structure without imparting overt oak influence. Within Piot-Sévillano’s limited Coteaux Champenois production, Indiscrète documents the family’s long standing engagement with still Meunier and examines how the variety performs outside the sparkling framework on chalk influenced Marne slopes.
