Description
Mid slope vineyards across Rully form the basis of the 2018 Domaine Dureuil Janthial Rully Rouge, reflecting the estate’s emphasis on parcel specific viticulture rooted in organic leaning practices. Pinot Noir is grown on alternating bands of shallow limestone and clay marl, soils that drain efficiently and regulate vigor over short distances. Gentle exposures and consistent airflow descending from the Hautes Côtes contributed to even ripening in a warm year. Vineyard work is carried out entirely by hand, with shoot positioning and leaf work aligned to the domaine’s soil focused approach. Grapes were harvested manually, largely destemmed, and fermented in small vats, with extraction adjusted to the season’s phenolic profile. Aging took place in French oak barrels of mixed ages. Within the estate’s Rully lineup, this cuvée records how disciplined farming and restrained élevage translate the appellation’s limestone terraces.
