Description
From selected Aconcagua Valley estate vineyards, Viña Errázuriz Max Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 is a Chilean red under the MAX label, based on Cabernet Sauvignon and sourced primarily from the interior Max vineyards. Don Maximiano Errázuriz founded the house in 1870 at Panquehue, north of Santiago; Eduardo Chadwick now leads the family enterprise, and Francisco Baettig directed enology during this period. The technical sheet identifies predominantly silty, colluvial soils with varied nutrition and drainage, while public materials do not specify block altitude or exposure for this cuvée. Vineyard work follows site selection within Aconcagua and environmentally oriented management, with fruit picked by hand, sorted, destemmed, and crushed. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, followed by 8 to 28 days of maceration, malolactic fermentation, and 12 months in French oak barrels, 30 percent new. Within the MAX program, the wine translates the producer’s focus on selected Aconcagua terroirs into an accessible varietal expression tied to the founder’s name.
