Description
Gravel influenced alluvial fans on the slopes of Savigny lès Beaune provide the setting for the 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune Nature from Seguin-Manuel, a wine rooted in the estate’s organically farmed program developed after its early 2000s revitalization. These soils, combining gravel with clay and limestone, offer moderate water retention and promote even ripening in temperate seasons such as 2018. Organic vineyard work emphasizes permanent ground cover, attentive shoot positioning, and selective leaf removal designed to preserve balance rather than maximize yield. Grapes were harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and neutral vessels, consistent with the low intervention framework of the Nature designation. Extraction was moderated to align with the naturally supple structure of the sites, and elevage continued in used barrels and tank to retain clarity. Within the Seguin Manuel portfolio, this cuvée reflects an intent to articulate Savigny’s gravel based terrain through precise organic viticulture and restrained cellar decisions.
