Description
On steep terraces above the Siurana near El Molar, the 2020 Clar del Bosc Priorat Tinto is a DOCa Priorat red from Catalonia, Spain, produced by Bodegas Llicorella Vins within Gil Family Estates from Garnacha, Cariñena, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Gil family history begins with Juan Gil Giménez and the 1916 harvest in Jumilla, later expanding through a group of regional wineries, including the Priorat project at Mas Perxet. The vineyards stand close to the estate, where blue slate, quartz, and llicorella soils are set among pine and olive trees; producer materials describe alternating northern and maritime winds, manual work, and low yields, but do not publish precise altitude or exposure for this cuvée. Grapes are hand harvested in 16-kilogram baskets, fermented separately in small open stainless-steel vats and partly in 500-liter French oak barrels, then aged by variety for 12 months in French oak before blending. Clar del Bosc represents the estate’s focus on Priorat red blending, llicorella soils, and parcel-driven cellar separation.
