Description
Limestone rich high sites west of the Côte d’Or provide the source for 2020 Maxime Cheurlin Noëllat Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Rouge, produced from a Vosne-Romanée based domaine managed with an emphasis on careful vineyard mapping and minimal intervention. Marl and shallow clay intermingle with the limestone, creating cooler ripening curves on wind exposed parcels where deep rooting becomes an important stabilizing factor. Farming is carried out by hand under sustainable practice, with canopy balance prioritized to match these conditions. Grapes are harvested manually and mostly destemmed, then fermented with native yeasts in small tanks, with extraction adjusted to the year’s phenolic profile. Aging follows in a combination of stainless steel and neutral oak to maintain structural transparency. Within the broader program, this wine supports the domaine’s effort to present detailed regional expressions through disciplined viticulture and a measured, site focused cellar regimen.
