Description

From the walled Clos des Ursules monopole in Beaune, the 2021 Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules Monopole is a Côte de Beaune red from Burgundy, France, made entirely from Pinot Noir within the Beaune Premier Cru appellation. Maison Louis Jadot was founded in Beaune in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, after earlier family vineyard acquisitions had established a domaine base; Frédéric Barnier now guides winemaking within the house technical team. Clos des Ursules is historically tied to the former Ursuline convent and sits within the Vignes Franches sector, mid-slope above Beaune, with clay and marl soils; recent reporting describes the 1.26-hectare site as east-facing and divided among vine-age zones. Grapes are manually harvested, destemmed, and fermented with natural yeasts in open tanks for up to one month, followed by 18 months in oak, including one third new barrels for 2021. The cuvée serves as a historical anchor for Louis Jadot’s work with Beaune Premier Cru Pinot Noir and domaine-owned Burgundy sites.
