Description
From Pinot Nero parcels within the Franciacorta denomination, Ferghettina Rosé Brut 2021 is a Franciacorta DOCG sparkling wine from Lombardy, Italy, made entirely from Pinot Nero. Roberto Gatti founded Ferghettina in 1991 with Andreina Gatti after more than two decades of work in Franciacorta vineyard and cellar management, and Laura and Matteo Gatti, both trained in enology, now work within the family company. The estate manages about 200 hectares of organically farmed vineyards across 11 Franciacorta municipalities, with many sites around 250 to 300 meters on the morainic hills south of Lake Iseo. For this cuvée, fruit is selected from Pinot Nero parcels in the denomination, including Adro-area vineyards trained to Guyot at roughly 5,000 vines per hectare. Whole clusters are hand harvested, pressed with a Marmonnier basket press, fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperature, and held as base wine until spring tirage. The wine ages 36 months on lees with low Brut dosage, aligning the rosé with Ferghettina’s work on Pinot Nero, bottle-fermented Franciacorta, and lees-contact research in the square bottle designed by Matteo.
