Description

From the Malvasia di Casorzo DOC in Piedmont, Gaudio Bricco Mondalino Dolce Stil Novo 2021 is an Italian wine made from Malvasia di Casorzo, a red Malvasia cultivated around Casorzo and neighboring Monferrato communities. The winery was established in the province of Alessandria in the early 1970s by Amilcare Gaudio, following earlier generations of family work in Monferrato wine; the estate later passed through Mauro Gaudio and is now associated with Beatrice Gaudio, with Matteo Macchi listed as winemaker for the cuvée. The vineyard source is Casorzo, near Vignale Casorzo, on calcareous clay soils at about 280 meters, with southwestern exposure and Guyot training; the technical sheet does not indicate organic certification. Cellar work uses indigenous yeast, two weeks of maceration, stainless-steel fermentation at controlled temperature, no malolactic fermentation, and bottling after a short maturation period. The wine aligns with Gaudio Bricco Mondalino’s focus on local Monferrato varieties, small appellations, and continuity between family history and regional specialization.
