Description
From the I Bricchi estate on the border between Castel Rocchero and Acqui Terme, the 2021 Scarpa Monferrato Bianco is a Monferrato DOC white wine from Piedmont, Italy, made entirely from Timorasso. Antonio Scarpa founded the Nizza Monferrato company in 1900, and Mario Pesce later defined its twentieth-century direction after acquiring the winery in 1949, applying selective harvesting, separate vinifications, and long-aging concepts learned in Burgundy and Alsace. Producer materials cite a 0.8-hectare Timorasso source in Acqui Terme, with east exposure, 380 meters of altitude, and predominantly clay soils; broader estate notes also describe vineyards from 350 to more than 400 meters. Farming certification for this cuvée is not specified. Grapes undergo 20 hours of cold skin maceration, pressing, 24 hours of static clarification, fermentation in steel, nine months of steel aging with bâtonnage, and extended bottle rest. The cuvée places Timorasso within Scarpa’s work on Monferrato varieties, delayed release, and steel-based precision.
