Description
Clay-limestone hillsides in Oltrepò Pavese supply the 2022 Bruno Verdi Oltrepò Pavese Sangue di Giuda Paradiso, Lombardy, Italy, continuing a family approach shaped by the zone’s mixed mesoclimates and long familiarity with local blends. Traditional varieties are farmed under an organic-oriented regime emphasizing soil cover, limited tillage, and canopy management adapted to warm days tempered by Po Valley breezes. In 2022, ripening was tracked closely to balance sugar accumulation with phenolic maturity, and harvest was staggered to accommodate differences in behavior across the component grapes. After hand picking, fruit was gently pressed and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks, with fermentation partially arrested to retain natural sweetness and a light effervescence. Élevage remained in stainless steel to preserve structural clarity. Paradiso functions as a record of how Oltrepò’s diverse slopes and traditional blending practices translate under attentive, low-intervention farming and measured cellar control.
