Description
On the Roche aux Moines slope in Savennières, Domaine aux Moines Le Berceau des Fées 2022 is a Vin de France Blanc from the Loire Valley, France, made entirely from Chenin Blanc. Monique Laroche acquired the domaine in 1981, and Tessa Laroche now directs the estate, which works a compact vineyard area devoted to Chenin. This cuvée comes from two hectares of vines under ten years old within the 12-hectare property, positioned above the Loire on south and south-west-oriented slopes. The vineyard base includes sandstone schist, purple schist, green-gray schist, and rhyolite, with organic certification and biodynamic practices guiding cultivation. Grapes are harvested by hand, slowly pressed, fermented with indigenous yeasts, and vinified entirely in stainless steel for nine months. Le Berceau des Fées serves as the young-vine expression of Domaine aux Moines’ work, placed beside the estate Roche aux Moines bottling as a study in Chenin, schist, and precise cellar restraint.
