Description

From the heart of Cour-Cheverny, the 2022 François Cazin Cour-Cheverny AOC Vendanges Manuelles is a Loire Valley white wine from France made entirely from Romorantin, the required variety of the appellation. François Cazin works from Le Petit Chambord in Cheverny, where the family domaine has passed from father to son for four generations and remains closely tied to hand harvesting and local grapes. The estate covers about 21 to 23 hectares, bordered to the east by the Cheverny forest and planted on combinations of chalky clay, limestone, and silica; published sources do not specify exact altitude or parcel exposures for this bottling. The 2022 harvest took place from September 20 to 29, with yields of 50 hectoliters per hectare. Grapes are hand picked, transported in boxes, gently pressed, naturally settled, fermented spontaneously at 18 degrees Celsius, and aged nine months on fine lees in wooden vats without filtration during élevage. The wine places Romorantin at the center of Cazin’s work in Cour-Cheverny.
