Description
Gentle Verduno slopes of marl and sand punctuated by localized limestone lenses supply the 2022 Fratelli Alessandria Verduno Pelaverga Speziale, Piedmont, Italy, continuing the work of a long-established family estate that has farmed in Verduno since the nineteenth century. These soil variations promote moderate vigor and balanced water retention, while shifting exposures across the hillside require attentive, parcel-sensitive decisions. Farming is carried out with restrained inputs and detailed manual canopy adjustments suited to Pelaverga’s late-ripening habit. Fruit is harvested by hand in multiple passes and fermented in stainless steel, with maceration adapted to the vintage’s structural traits. Maturation continues in neutral vessels to maintain clarity and avoid external imprint. Speziale remains a defining element of the estate’s program, expressing Verduno’s historical association with Pelaverga through steady viticulture and a consistent cellar approach calibrated to small-parcel variation.
