Description
Limestone and marl soils across the slopes of Santenay form the foundation of the 2022 Joseph Drouhin Santenay Rouge, produced through a combination of estate vineyards and long standing grower partnerships. These parcels, facing varied orientations along the southern Côte de Beaune, are farmed under Drouhin guidelines that prioritize organic principles, balanced pruning, and selective hand harvesting adapted to differences in vine age and soil depth. Fermentation proceeds in temperature controlled tanks with gentle extraction, followed by maturation in French oak barrels, including a proportion of older wood chosen to support structure without imposing dominant élevage character. As a village level cuvée, this wine offers a consolidated view of Santenay’s geology and farming conditions while aligning with the maison’s broader emphasis on precision and adaptable parcel selection across the Côte de Beaune.
