Description

A Brochon-area site slated to fall under Fixin from the 2024 vintage provides the source for the 2023 Domaine Louis Boillot Côte de Nuits-Villages Rouge Vignois, a Burgundy Pinot Noir from France bottled under the Côte de Nuits-Villages appellation. Louis Boillot created the domaine in 2002 after the division of the Lucien Boillot holdings, bringing four generations of family parcels from Volnay and Gevrey-Chambertin into an independent project now based in Chambolle-Musigny with Ghislaine Barthod and their son Clément. The Vignois vines stand near Nuits-Saint-Georges and Brochon on well-drained limestone, marl, and stony clay soils, within an appellation framework that permits Côte de Nuits-Villages in Brochon, Fixin, Premeaux-Prissey, Comblanchien, and Corgoloin. Farming is described by importer materials as organic, with hand vineyard work supporting separation of small parcels. In 2023, Clément worked with destemmed fruit, cold maceration, remontage rather than late punch-downs, shorter vatting, and aging that includes larger barrels and stainless steel. Vignois places a marginal village site within Boillot’s work on inheritance, adaptation, and controlled extraction.
