Description
A steep lower sector of Bougros near the Serein defines the 2023 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros Côte Bouguerots, a Burgundy white from France made entirely from Chardonnay within the Chablis Grand Cru appellation. William Fèvre declared his first vintage in 1959, extending family work in Chablis that reaches back more than 250 years; the domaine grew from seven hectares and is now directed in both cellar and vineyards by Didier Séguier, with Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite acquiring the estate in 2024. Côte Bouguerots comes from about 2.11 hectares held by William Fèvre in the lieu-dit, mostly planted in the 1950s and 1960s. The site is south facing, within the roughly 130 to 170 meter altitude range cited for Bougros, and is marked by shallow, naturally draining soils influenced by clay, marl, limestone, and gravel. Farming is organic, with certification beginning from the 2023 vintage. Élevage lasts about 14 to 15 months, roughly half on fine lees in old French oak barrels, placing the cuvée within the domaine’s emphasis on separate parcel vinification and restrained oak use.
