Description
From southern-exposed slopes in the Kutjevo appellation, Ivan Enjingi Kutjevo Graševina 2023 is a Slavonian white wine from Croatia made entirely from Graševina, the regional name for Welschriesling. Ivan Enjingi continues a multigenerational family tradition on the slopes of Krndija, within one of Croatia’s key continental winegrowing districts, and the estate is associated with organic farming and low-intervention production. The vineyards are planted at about 8,500 vines per hectare, with restricted yields of roughly 0.5 to 1 kilogram per vine, in a climate defined by dry, hot summers and cold, snowy winters. Site descriptions note regular breezes, volcanic and sandy soils, white clay stones, and slate and granite bedrock. Grapes are hand harvested, destemmed, and macerated on skins for about 48 hours in stainless steel and plastic vats. Spontaneous fermentation is temperature controlled at 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, followed by aging in stainless steel and Enjingi-made Slavonian oak barrels. The cuvée places Graševina at the center of Enjingi’s work with organic farming, regional continuity, and unfiltered bottling.
