Description
From Cima Corgo parcels planted on mica schist, the 2023 Luís Seabra Xisto Ilimitado Branco is a Douro white from Duriense, Portugal, made from a field blend of Rabigato, Códega, Gouveio, Viosinho, and other local varieties. Luís Seabra founded Luís Seabra Vinhos in 2013 after working with Dirk Niepoort, shaping the project around old vineyards, soil distinctions, and non-fortified Douro wines. The fruit comes from vines around 30 to 45 years old at 500 to 600 meters, with some trade sources also citing feldspar and mixed schist formations, while exact parcel exposures are not published. Farming is described as organic, with older vines selected for their resilience in the Douro climate. Grapes are crushed, destemmed, and pressed together, then fermented with indigenous yeasts, 90 percent in used French oak and 10 percent in stainless steel. One year on lees without bâtonnage places the cuvée within Seabra’s work on village-scale Douro interpretation, native grapes, and restrained cellar input.
