Description
Through a white-wine vinification of Nero d’Avola, the 2023 Morgante Bianco di Morgante is a Terre Siciliane IGT white wine from Sicily, Italy. Antonio Morgante began bottling the family grapes in 1994 with his sons Carmelo and Giovanni after five generations of viticulture, and Riccardo Cotarella joined the project as winemaker in 1997. The estate is based at Grotte in the province of Agrigento, about 21 kilometers from the coast and near the Valley of the Temples, with vineyards spread across hilly terrain at roughly 350 to 550 meters. Soils are described as clay, limestone, and marl, with Mediterranean conditions and marked day to night temperature shifts; published materials note controlled work from vineyard to cellar and organic practices, but do not specify parcel exposure for this cuvée. Grapes are handled as a white wine, pressed to limit skin extraction, and matured in stainless steel. Bianco di Morgante extends the estate’s focus on Nero d’Avola through a technical interpretation outside the red-wine frame.
