Description
On the Volnay slope, the 2023 Maison Nicolas Potel Volnay 1er Cru Robardelle is a Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France, produced under the Volnay Premier Cru appellation. Maison Nicolas Potel was created in Nuits-Saint-Georges in 1997 by Nicolas Potel, son of Gérard Potel of Domaine de la Pousse d’Or, and later became part of the Labouré-Roi structure; La Revue du vin de France lists Brigitte Putzu as enologist. Robardelle is a Premier Cru climat near the former Roman road and quarries, with marl, chalk, and fallen rock soils, east to south-east exposures, and altitudes cited between 230 and 340 meters. House technical material for Robardelle specifies hand harvesting, sorting in both vineyard and cellar, destemming, temperature-regulated vatting, a short cold maceration, fermentation with Burgundy yeasts, daily punch-downs and pump-overs, then 12 to 15 months in French oak. The cuvée connects a named Volnay climat with the Potel négociant model of selected grower fruit and appellation-focused élevage.
