Between Oberloiben and Unterloiben, the 2023 Weingut Knoll Wachau Grüner Veltliner Ried Trum Loibner Federspiel is a dry white wine from Niederösterreich, Austria, made entirely from Grüner Veltliner within the Wachau DAC and classified at Federspiel level. The Knoll family has shaped winegrowing in Unterloiben for generations, with estate bottling becoming standard in the mid twentieth century and the Saint Urban label introduced in 1962; Emmerich Knoll III remains closely associated with the modern domaine. Ried Trum lies below the railway and near Bockfüßl at about 210 meters, with geological sources describing weathered gneiss influence toward the upper sector and alluvial loess in lower sections. The 2023 fruit was hand harvested and sorted, with cellar work following Knoll practice through fermentation in stainless steel and maturation in old large oak casks. The cuvée fits Knoll’s work through Loiben site definition, Grüner Veltliner focus, and Vinea Wachau discipline.
