Description
From the Sarcidano area near Gergei, Tenuta Olianas Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2024 is a Sardinian red wine from Italy, based on Cannonau with a documented composition of 90 percent Cannonau and 10 percent Tintillu. Olianas began at the start of the 2000s through the collaboration of oenologist Stefano Casadei and the Olianas family of Gergei, near Barumini and Su Nuraxi. The estate works about 30 hectares of native Sardinian varieties under BioIntegrale principles, combining organic and biodynamic agriculture with biodiversity-oriented practices. Fruit comes from Sedda Sa Figu, planted on sandy loam, and Anfiteatro, a southward valley site with clay-rich soils, south to west exposure, 2002 to 2005 plantings, Guyot and some spurred cordon training; the reviewed technical sheet does not publish parcel altitude. Destemmed fruit is lightly crushed, with a portion fermented in 1,000-liter underground amphorae and the balance in temperature-controlled steel. Aging lasts eight months in steel and used barriques. Within the Olianas project, the wine connects native grapes, restrained cellar intervention, and Sardinian agricultural identity.
