Description
As a Wachau-wide Grüner Veltliner, Veyder-Malberg Wachau Grüner Veltliner Liebedich 2024 is a dry white wine from Niederösterreich, Austria, made entirely from Grüner Veltliner within the Wachau DAC framework. Peter Veyder-Malberg established the estate in 2008 after earlier technical and commercial work in Austria and abroad, choosing the Spitzer Graben as the base for a small, organically farmed project. Liebedich is assembled from parcels along the Danube and in the Spitzer Graben, including terraced and plateau sites between Loiben and Spitz, with plantings ranging from the 1950s to recent decades. Importer material describes southerly exposures at roughly 200 to 270 meters, principally on calcareous loess and river deposits, with primary rock present in some contributing parcels. Grapes are hand harvested, briefly macerated, pressed slowly, fermented spontaneously, and aged about five months in stainless steel and old large barrels. The cuvée functions within Veyder-Malberg’s work on organic farming, parcel recovery, and restrained cellar handling.
