Description

On the Monterotondo hills in the municipality of Gavi, the 2024 Villa Sparina Gavi del Comune di Gavi is a Piedmont white wine from Italy, classified as Gavi DOCG and made entirely from Cortese. Villa Sparina occupies an eighteenth-century estate at Monterotondo and was developed as a modern wine property after Mario and Bruna Moccagatta acquired it in the early 1970s; Stefano, Tiziana, and Massimo Moccagatta now guide the family company. The vineyards lie within a 100-hectare property that includes about 70 hectares planted to local varieties. Technical materials place the Cortese parcels at 250 to 300 meters, mainly south and south-west facing, with clay and marl soils, Guyot training, 4,200 vines per hectare, and manual harvest. Grapes are gently crushed, fermented for about three weeks in stainless steel at controlled temperature, and handled without oak. The bottling represents Villa Sparina’s work with estate Cortese, Gavi identity, and a cellar program built around stainless-steel precision.
