Description
South and southeast facing slopes in Bouzy form the basis of the NV Jean Vesselle Champagne Brut Rosé de Saignée, sourced from Grand Cru Pinot Noir vineyards planted on chalk and chalk limestone across the Montagne de Reims. These exposures support steady ripening under moderated continental conditions, and vineyard work emphasizes balanced canopies, moderated yields, and selective hand harvesting to meet the structural demands of the saignée method. In the cellar, Pinot Noir undergoes a controlled maceration to extract color and phenolic elements before fermentation in temperature controlled vessels. Individual lots are maintained separately prior to blending, followed by secondary fermentation in bottle and calibrated lees aging to integrate components while preserving clarity. This cuvée occupies a central position in the domaine’s rosé range, illustrating a technically precise application of saignée vinification aligned with Bouzy’s chalk influenced hillside terroir.
