Description
Old vine Pinot Meunier planted on sand and limestone over the Thanetian chalk band defines NV Jérôme Prévost Champagne Extra Brut La Closerie Les Béguines LB22, produced by a small grower based in Gueux who has built a focused project around a single, contiguous parcel. Les Béguines is farmed under organic principles with meticulous canopy management suited to warm exposures and free draining soils, and the vines are harvested in a single pass to preserve the coherence of the site. Fermentation proceeds in a mix of barrels previously used by fellow growers, followed by lees aging before secondary fermentation. Each release is identified by lot number, and LB22 continues the estate’s practice of presenting one harvest through a terroir centered, restrained framework. Within La Closerie, this bottling reinforces Prévost’s long running study of Meunier from Gueux, carried forward through patient élevage and precise vineyard stewardship.
