Description
Calcareous marl slopes near Castagnole Monferrato supply the base material for the NV La Miraja Vino Chinato Ruchè La Ribota, Piedmont, Italy, produced by a small estate set within an eighteenth-century hilltop castle and shaped by the Bergaglio family’s effort to preserve old-vine Ruchè. Estate parcels sit at moderate elevation, with steady Monferrato breezes supporting balanced growth and soils that moderate vigor for this locally rooted variety. Farming follows sustainable practice with careful pruning and selective hand harvesting, adjusted to Ruchè’s small berries and the wine’s intended base profile. The base wine is fortified and infused with a traditional set of botanicals and spices, reflecting nineteenth-century Piedmontese apothecary practice, and maturation in neutral vessels allows the infusion to integrate gradually. Within the La Miraja range, La Ribota extends the family’s work with regional heritage grapes by applying historical vinous and herbal technique to a lesser-known strand of Monferrato wine culture.
