Description
South and southwest facing slopes around the eighteenth century Château de la Marquetterie provide the fruit for the NV Taittinger Champagne Brut Folies de la Marquetterie, a vineyard designated cuvée tied to the house’s historic holdings near Pierry. Chalk layered with clay and hard limestone supports rapid drainage and measured vine vigor within the region’s cool continental climate. Vineyard work follows sustainable practices, with detailed hand labor used to manage canopies across varied exposures. Grapes are pressed in fractions at the estate, and base wines ferment primarily in stainless steel, with selected lots completing fermentation in oak to broaden structural range prior to blending. Assemblage integrates parcel character with reserve wines, followed by secondary fermentation and extended lees aging in bottle. Within the Taittinger portfolio, Folies de la Marquetterie stands apart as a site focused interpretation shaped by precise viticulture and a consistent traditional method framework.
