From terraces and costers around Gratallops and Porrera, the 2006 Buil & Giné Priorat DOQ Giné Giné reflects a family project devoted to documenting Priorat’s steep llicorella slopes through old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena. Vines are managed for moderated yields with erosion control and canopy alignment calibrated to intense Mediterranean light, while poor, fractured slate imposes low vigor and requires close seasonal oversight. Grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in steel or concrete, keeping parcels separate to evaluate structural differences linked to elevation and exposure. Aging proceeds in a mix of neutral and lightly toasted barrels selected to maintain the tension associated with hillside fruit. Within the Buil & Giné portfolio, Giné Giné functions as a foundational cuvée, helping frame ongoing work in mapping soil variability, slope orientation, and long-term vineyard rehabilitation across the estate’s network of mountain sites.
