Description
Volcanic, basalt-derived soils on Monte Foscarino anchor the source of the 2013 Gini Recioto di Soave Classico Col Foscarin half bottle, Veneto, Italy, reflecting the Gini family’s multi-generational focus on hillside Garganega in the Soave Classico zone and the estate’s oldest vines on this site. Fruit is selected carefully at harvest and then dried in well-ventilated fruttai to concentrate sugars and phenolic material, an appassimento method the family has refined over decades. In the vineyard, work centers on balanced canopies and limited yields to deliver grapes suited to an extended drying period. Fermentation moves slowly in neutral vessels given the density of the must, and élevage continues in older barrels intended to encourage gradual integration while maintaining transparency. Within the Gini lineup, this Recioto functions as a site-rooted interpretation of a historic Soave style, linking Monte Foscarino’s geology to traditional drying practice and attentive, organic-leaning viticulture.
