Low vigor conditions on these rocky soils, paired with coastal winds, slow Syrah’s pace of development and place a premium on canopy decisions that protect fruit while maintaining airflow. With even conditions through the season, the vineyard team emphasized careful shoot positioning, moderated yields, and erosion control suited to the site’s steep ground. Grapes were harvested by hand and fermented with native yeasts, often using a substantial whole cluster component to examine how stem inclusion contributes to Syrah’s structural potential in this cool setting. Aging proceeded largely in neutral barrels to keep élevage transparent and allow site derived elements to register.
