Description
South and southeast facing slopes in Mád supply the 2016 Royal Tokaji Wine Co. Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos Nyulászó, a single vineyard selection shaped by the company’s long collaboration with local growers to safeguard historic first and second growth sites. Rhyolite tuff, volcanic ash, and clay define the soil mix, retaining moisture while draining effectively in ways that favor botrytis development. During the steady, extended 2016 growing season, vineyard work emphasized careful canopy management and repeated passes to track rot progression. Aszú berries were harvested by hand into small containers, then gently macerated with must from healthy fruit before pressing. Fermentation proceeded slowly in stainless steel and old Hungarian oak, followed by maturation in traditional gönci casks in the region’s deep, humid cellars. Within Royal Tokaji’s single vineyard series, Nyulászó offers a clear view of a warm but balanced year and supports the estate’s ongoing study of Tokaj’s volcanic matrices and their influence on classical Aszú structure.
