Description
In the northern sector of Ribera del Duero, the 2021 JC Vizcarra Ribera del Duero Tinto Celia is produced by Juan Carlos Vizcarra from small parcels of Tinto Fino planted on limestone-rich soils mixed with clay and gravel. Sites at roughly 800 meters experience wide diurnal swings and prevailing winds that moderate ripening in a zone defined by intense sunlight and continental extremes. Vineyard work emphasizes balanced pruning, low to moderate yields, and careful harvest selection tuned to the variability of older vines on heterogeneous ground. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, often maintaining parcel separation until blending, and maturation continues in largely older French oak barrels to develop structure without imposing strong tannic framing. Celia occupies a focused role in the JC Vizcarra lineup, presenting a technical interpretation of high-elevation Tinto Fino shaped by precise viticulture and measured cellar work aligned with the estate’s ongoing commitment to terroir-driven Ribera del Duero wines.
